Level-Up Your To-Do Lists for Increased Motivation.

Have you found that despite creating to-do lists for the day, you often don’t have the willpower and motivation to see all of them through?

Chances are, at some point, you tend to get a bit distracted and start procrastinating.

Well, the good news is that we’re here to help you. If you’re struggling to keep the motivation up until you cross off everything on your list, here’s a great tip that will allow you to power through them with extreme zeal:

Create incremental rewards.

It’s quite easy. You create rewards for achieving certain tasks, and you lay them out in increments so that these rewards are not enough that you get completely distracted, but at the same time, just enough to keep you motivated to get the next one. They don’t even need to be rewards that will cost you, to be honest.

One example of a great incremental reward system that you can incorporate with your to-do list, is leisure time.

If you find yourself enjoying browsing through YouTube videos, or catching up on your favorite TV series, why not try to space them out in between the tasks you need to finish. For example, for every task done, you get 20 minutes of YouTube time, or you get to watch one episode of How I Met Your Mother.

It might seem trivial, but that might just inspire you to work harder, so that you’ll be able to see the next episode in an hour of work. Additionally, it will serve as the rest time that you need in between mentally exhausting tasks.

The cool thing is – you can even incorporate this outside of to-do lists. Whenever you need to get something big done, like a report for work, or a project submission. You can break your working time up into 60-90 minute increments, and put some downtime in between.

What I like to do is get some work done, play 10 minutes of some game on my smartphone, go back to work, play another 10 minutes, go back to work – in an endless cycle that in all honesty, keeps my productivity at an all-time-high.

Of course, don’t forget that when you give yourself rewards, not to go overboard. However much time you allot yourself, stick to it!

Hopefully, with this advice, you can finally kick procrastination to the curb and say hello to the new way to get this done right.
